BSc (Hons) Ost Med. DO, ND, MRN, Registered Osteopath, Naturopath & Acupuncturist
Founder and Owner of The Harcourt Clinic
Described by the Evening Standard Newspaper as the “Uber-Osteopath” and referred to in Vogue as the “Muscle Man”, Kevin Bell, founder and owner of the Harcourt Clinic, is a well recognised London Osteopath originally from New Zealand. He comes from a sporting background, having played rugby and competed in national surf lifesaving and flat-water kayak racing in New Zealand. He is also a keen cyclist and triathlete.
Kevin graduated from the British College of Osteopathic Medicine (BCOM) in 1991 and then completed a three-year course in traditional Chinese acupuncture. For many years he combined his private practice with lecturing on Osteopathic technique at BCOM. Kevin is also a qualified Pilates teacher and the Harcourt Clinic incorporates a thriving Pilates studio.
Kevin’s first Osteopathic clinic was established in 1991 at Alan Herdman’s Pilates studio. Then, in October 2002, he set up the Harcourt Clinic in central London which offers Osteopathy, Acupuncture, Naturopathy, and Pilates. The combination of Kevin’s skills enables him to treat a wide range of sports and dance injuries and conditions, including musculoskeletal pain, arthritic pain, sciatica, neuralgia, muscle spasms, digestive problems and headaches.
Kevin has a loyal following in the dance, theatre, film, television, sports, legal and business worlds with clients including members of the Royal Ballet, Bolshoi and Kirov dance companies and the Royal Shakespeare Company.
Ros has practised Pilates for over 20 years and is manager of the Pilates studio. Ros is certified by both Body Control Pilates and Alan Herdman Pilates. Her qualifications cover studio equipment and matwork and she has specialist teaching qualifications in injury rehabilitation, bone health (osteoporosis) and pre- and post-natal Pilates.
Ros teaches people of all ages, abilities and levels of experience. She has a particular interest in injury rehabilitation. Working closely with Kevin Bell, the osteopath, has enabled her to take on many clients with medical issues whom other Pilates teachers might not have the confidence to teach. Ros has extensive experience working with clients with a wide range of musculoskeletal problems including spinal disc injuries, scoliosis, spinal rods, arthritic conditions, hip and knee replacements, hypermobility, and shoulder and elbow conditions. However, she also enjoys working with clients who simply want to get more toned, flexible and stronger, or who are looking to advance their Pilates practice.
Before becoming a Pilates teacher, Ros was a City lawyer and held senior strategic and management roles in the Practical Law Company and Thomson Reuters UK & Ireland Legal Solutions.
Val trained as a Pilates teacher with Alan Herdman Pilates and her certifications cover studio equipment, mat work and injury rehabilitation. Val also has qualifications in massage therapy, stretch therapy, Nordic walking and fitness walking.
Val enjoys working with a wide variety of people and has a strong interest in biomechanics. She believes that becoming stiffer and achier as the years go by should not be an inevitable consequence of getting older.
Before becoming a Pilates teacher, Val was a massage therapist.
